Baht bus in Pattaya

Baht Bus in Pattaya
The so called Baht Bus is quiet convenient and cheap for transport within Pattaya.

They run normally on fixed routes, so at along Pattaya Beach Road, Second Road, Naklua Road and Tappraya Road from Pattaya to Jomtien.

Normally you pay just 10 Baht per Person regardless to the distance. However you cannot tell the driver to go to a special destination.

If you want to do that you can charter the Baht Bus and you should agree a fare in advance in order to avoid angry discussions later. If you charter a Baht Bus i.e. from Naklua to South Pattaya the fare should not be more than 150 Baht. Same price for a trip from South Pattaya to Jomtien Beach.

If you charter such a Baht Bus for a trip to Maprachan Reservoir the fare will be around 200 baht.

However on special events, like Pattaya Music Festival or New Years Eve the drivers often ask for the double price or more.

If you do not agree to a fixed fare in advance they normally refuse to go. Fares for taxis are higher than fares for chartered Baht Bus. You should expect to 30 % more.

You can find them at fixed locations, i.e. in front of Avenue Shopping Mall, at Central Festival.

Motorbike Taxis

Motorbike Taxis sometimes are fast and convenient, but dangerous as well. You will find motorbike taxis at nearly every corner in Pattaya. They normally wear a coloured jacket with a number on it and often advertising of a sponsor. Price for a trip with such motorbike taxis is for short distances (up to 2 km) around 20 to 30 Baht, medium distance (5 to 6 km) around 60 Baht. If you go with two people they often ask for the double price.

Bangkok Taxi

Taxi to Bangkok Airport
If you go from Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi) to Pattaya the fare for a taxi is more expensive, you should be prepared to pay around 1,300 Baht.

You should not agree a price including the highway fees because then they will try to avoid the highways to increase their profit but with the consequence that you sit 30 minutes longer in the taxi.

A trip with a taxi will take you normally within less than 90 minutes to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport.
