Pattaya Beach

Pattaya Beach Road
Pattaya is located about 150 kilometers south of Bangkok at the Gulf of Thailand. The City has a length of approx. 18 km along the beach and covers an area of nearly 200 square kilometers.

In Thailand Pattaya has together with Hua Hin the most sunshine hours per year. Even during the rainy season from Mai to October the weather is quite nice and when it rains, often only three or four hours later sun is shining again.

Also the price level makes Pattaya very attractive. Espacially if you compare with Phuket in the South : Quite often in Phuket you pay the double price for Hotels, Restaurants, Bars etc. The price for a taxi trip might even be four times more. Jomtien Beach belongs to the City Pattaya as well, however stays a little bit separated with Prathumnak Hill just in between.

Second Road Pattaya
Officially Pattaya has 110.000 citizens (2010), however it is estimated that 400.000 to 800.000 people are living in Pattaya. The Center of Pattaya is the Central Road and along the Beach Road, where you will find the world famous Walking-Street at the southern end. There is the center of nightlife as well. However nightlive is in many other areas of Pattaya as well, i.e. the area around Soi Bukhao.

Pattaya has many hotels. Because of the competition prices are quite cheap. Cheap guest rooms are available from around 400 Baht, rooms in small hotels around 800 Baht up to luxury hotels for 2,500 Baht ++. Recommended : Book your room on the internet, booking direct in the hotel is normally more expensive.

Quite nice is an option to rent holiday Villas in a central location close to Jomtien Beach : All villas have a private swimming pool and give you 100 % privacy. Prices from 2.650 Baht.

Restaurants : You can find nearly everything in Pattaya : French, German, Dutch, Italian, Swiss, Austria, Scandinavian, Mexican and more. Prices for a main course starting form 150 Baht in cheap Restaurants up to 700 Baht in expensive Restraurants, sometimes even much more for imported steaks etc.

Pattaya Baht Bus

Pattaya Baht Bus

Baht Bus PattayaTransport : Very useful are the so called Baht – Busses. They run on main roads like Beach Road and Second Road. Normally you have to pay 10 Baht per person regardless to the distance, 1 or 5 km. If you want to hire them like a Taxi, you should agree the price with the driver first. Since a few years Pattaya has regular Taxis as well. They have a meter, but often the taxi driver refuse to use it and want to agree the fare with you, which is more expensive.

Popular is Koh Larn, an island with some nice beaches. There are ferries several times a day starting from Bali Hai Peer at the South end of Walking street. For a few baht you can reach the island within 20 minutes.
